Boom2:Volume Boost & Equalizer App Reviews

Save your money

Instead of spending money on this, put it towards a decent set of external speakers or headphones. While there is a noticeable sound improvement, it is not great. Also, there seems to be a memory leak and it crashes frequently.

Boom went from best app to worst in one update

Fix the crashing issue ASAP, and ditch the tracker $#!7

Boom 2

This Application does not work. And the amount of negative feedback in Gobal Delight Technology’s Support Forums indicate that. I want a refund. I should not have to alter my system to support your product.

Shuts off randomly?

The latest update seems to have caused the app to no longer function properly. It is possible to start Boom 2, but after a few minutes, the service will shut itself off. This is really irksome and has destroyed any sort of usefulness that the app offered. How can I rollback? :(

Boosts volume

It works. It boosts the volume dudes. If you have bad ears this is the one for you.

BOOM, shake-lakka

LOVE it. When Iisten to music, it makes the sounds more rich and definite; movies are, sound-wise, clearer. The new Mac speakers are better too; so, as a non-audio-phile, i’m quite pleased.

Outstanding, save for a few caveats

This is a great app. Period. I won’t restate the obvious and that which has already been written. Two points. First, the app uses the mac battery extensively. It uses the battery even when there is nothing playing. To add to the issue, it invokes Coreaudioid, a mac sub-process for sound even when there is nothing playing. This is all good when listening to music connected to the charger but when trying to save battery while traveling, I have to quit the app as, in total, the sound apps use over 3-5% CPU utilization. Once Boom 2 is stopped, all CPU utilization returns to normal, including the Coreaudioid. DEVELOPERS PLEASE FIX ASAP…ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS NO MUSIC PLAYING!!! There is no need to run the CPU up when there is no sound/signal being processed. Second, there is another Boom app for the iPhone. Unless you burned your music personally, it’s a waste of money. The iOS app DOES NOT impact or help any music purchased from iTunes, which is most of my library. Copyright thing. It does, from my undestanding, help imported music. You do have to play with the configuration on the mac app. Too much Boom makes the speakers distort. But, save for the points above, it’s a great app. Note, some people note that they ‘lost sound’. Occasionally, I have to go to System Preferences / Sound and re-click on the headphone jack option. Boom sometimes messes that up; but it’s a quick fix.

The best app for what it does…just one issue

I’ve been using Boom since its early days. It’s absolutely superb at what it does, namely boost your Mac’s volume and let you equalize its sound according to your liking. Definitely worth 10 bucks but a bargain even at 20. At least until Apple figures out that maybe they should build this functionality into the OS! But there’s one annoyance with Boom that’s always been there, one that for the life of me I can’t imagine why they haven’t fixed it by now in Boom 2. You go to the app store, purchase the app and install it, good to go. But…in order for the volume boost and equalization to actually work, you have to do a seperate download and installation. And they aren’t even from the app store where they’d be easy to get to; you have to get the installer file from a web site and then run it manually from the Downloads folder. The link to the installer is in the ap itself, but the first time I installed it today, I didn’t see that link. So I went out and downloaded the Boom 2 user guide, and looked on the web site itself, hunted high and low. Then I closed the app and relaunched it, and somewhere in it the link to this Boom Device appeared. I downloaded it, installed it and was good to go. So my question is, why would Global Delight not have this Boom Device thing install with the actual Boom app that you get from the App Store? It seems bizarre to me, and no matter which version of Boom you get or how much you may for it, you are OUT OF THE WATER until you can get this Boom Device installed. That seems moronic to me for an app that’s otherwise absolutely brilliant. Overall, Boom 2 is one of those apps like the Firefox browser, the Chrome browser, and Downcast, that you should download and install upon the purchase of any new MAc. I heard it’s available for IOS too, I’m going to try that next. Well played Global Delight!

Best app for sound increase

Well i bought a macbook pro couple of months ago and i really wasnt happy how loud the speakers went. I did some research and this app came up to be the best to raise up the volume. I downloaded it and what you know it does what its supposed too! It literally raised sound 2x as powerful now. Happy with the purchased.

Boom 2 …...

the best audio enhancement app.

Excellent App

Excellent App - really delivers Well done to the devs

OMG! What an Incredible Difference

This is one of those “MUST HAVE” apps. This app works awesome with services like Spotify.

Far exceeded my expectations.

More than worth the purchase price. I use V-Moda bluetooth cans, and goodlord, I’m sittin’ right smack dab in the middle of everything: classical, rock, jazz. My favorite is jazz, small groups. If I had one of those bass-thumping vests, I’d be set for life. My cans are great. No complaints. But Boom 2 makes them, easily, twice as good. Just get it.

The best audio upgrade for your Mac

If you use internal speakers or headphones all day, you’ll really appreciate what Boom does for your sound. I was honestly shocked, on the verge of buying a bulky headphone amp to carry around in my bag all day, and on a whim I decided to try Boom. Adjusted properly (keep your eye on the volume control of your headphones or source apps), this solved all of my problems, both volume and sound. I was also surprised how easily it integrates into Mac OS.

AWESOME APP

If your Mac doesn’t have reasonably loud audio even at max volume. THIS IS THE APP YOU NEED!!!!! Get it! So worth it and even without their equalizer will open capabilities of your sound system you didn’t know you had.

Excellent!

This is an amazing app with a full suite of audio controls over your mac. As some reviewers have pointed out, it does use a fair amount of battery, but I still give it 5 stars because the power this app has is amazing. It can basically turn cheap headphones or stereos into something that actually sounds decent, so long as you’re willing to fiddle with it. I highly recommend this app!

Note: You have to install a second component before it works properly

Just when it seemed this was a ripoff which didn’t fulfill its advertised promise, I noticed that after installation it takes you to another page where you have to download and install a secondary component in order for it to function. Yes, it does function as described. Very useful indeed

Boom Life

Boomin Awesome! The granular control over my Mac’s sound virtually unlimited.

Great App but additional download needed

Huge volume improvement on my mbp 2012. Won’t work until you download an additional file to identify your system.

Perfect for a Mac EQ for Spotify!

So for some reason I have not been able to find an Equalizer on the Spotify app on a Mac. It is on the mobile version but not the desktop. IMac’s also do not seem to have a sound EQ option. I use studio speakers to listen to music and they are incredibly bass heavy. This app is perfect as it allows you to EQ ANY of your sound on an IMac. It took me a minute to figure out. If you download it but can not figure out how to use the EQ this is how. Open the app (it will automatically boost your volume so beware!). In the upper right hand corner of your Mac there will be a button that looks like circular sound waves, 3 to be exact. Click on this which will prompt a slider. At the bottom of the slider are three dots. Click on this and there is your EQ. The app seems like it can be buggy at times but overall it works great. HIGHLY recommend!
