5 Stars- Great Equalizer

I’ve been using this application for almost a year now. I listen to a lot of music spread over a few genres (from rock to rap to dubstep). One of the best out there, this app leads as one of the best equalizers out there and is easy to customize and use. I would have it on my phone too (if I could). Highly recomended

Wish I Could Give it NO STARS!

The first Boom app works great. Don’t buy this new version. Just get the free ORIGINAL VERSION Bullet Points for Why This APP STINKS! ‌•YOU have to drag and drop music and video into this new Boom 2 APP so isn’t helpful with watching online content ‌•Because of the dragging and dropping of music and video files it CLUTTERS UP your computer music folders and iTunes songs with duplicates. ‌• Doesn’t make them sound louder AND better. More like louder AND DISTORTED!!!! horrible quality ‌•Becaue Boom 1 works just fine

Good idea - terrible execution

Here’s a few issues (os x 10.10.5) I have with using Boom: - after each app restart it mutes all sound - I have to go to “Audio MIDI setup” and unmute it by hand - if you connect external sound card it won’t allow you to switch to it untill you kill the app

wonderful

This app is wonderful ! ;)

It’s OK if you can put up with the bugs

I’ve used this app for a the better part of year and love the improvements it makes to the audio. However the software has bugs that are inconvenient enough for me to uninstall it. There’s another program called “Hear” by Prosoft that’s does the same thing which I’ve started using.

Problems with external speakers

Though this app does make my MacBook Pro 15” Retina internal speakers sound good, when I try listening with either bluetooth (e.g. headphones), usb (e.g. external display), or airplay (home tuner) speakers the sound is so distorted (clipped) that I can’t listen to it. It doesn’t matter what I do with the settings inside Boom 2 they sound really crappy. It does seem like the earphone jack works ok. I tried to contact support through the app and the email bounced back saying that the “mailbox is full”. Not a good sign. I’ve uninstalled it for now and hoping for an update soon. I’m using Boom 2 verion 1.3 and OS X 10.11.1 (El Capitan)

Phenomenal

Great and phenomenal

What’s Happened

Boom 2 worked flawlessly for me for a couple of months. Very nice sound enhancement. Recently, however, it becomes uncontrollable every once in a while. I can’t tell with certainty if the latest update to OS X caused this or what. When I want to change the profile, I can’t get to the list of profiles as I used to. Even a reboot of my system doesn’t solve the problem. Apple should dump this app until it is fixed.

Cant tell the difference! … the free trial was better…

I had the free trial, loved it. I pay the 10 bucks and my music sounds just the same… why is the boom only to trick you to pay for the app? Why all the fancy stuff just to still be leaning towards the screen to hear the music better… BUMMER… if it wasnt for the policies i would ask for my money back stat!!

Does not work!

I bought this through the apple store and it simply does not work. I wrote to their tech support(I have an audio QA background), but I have not gotten a reply. Apple should pull this app! Take a $20 out of your pocket and throw it out the window instead. At least that does not take the time you waste trying to get this to work away from you. If someone from Global Delight reads this, just know that this review could have easily been avoided if someone would have just responded to my email.

A lot of background noise

I tried this app for almost two weeks. It has a lot of background noise I contacted the support they told me to launch audio MIDI Setup app on Mac and check whether the sample rate for the app is set to 44100Hz I checked it and found it is set to 44100Hz as they told me I told them back that there is still noise and I never heard from them. I don’t recommend anyone to spend their money on this app.

Love the Boom!

Music helps me focus on my design projects, the enriched sound Boom provides to my MacBook Pro is AMAZE. Thank you BOOM! :D

Very not good

The stupid animation "calibration" thing is just an insult to my intelligence and the default preset EQ settings are terrible. Congratulations, in attempting to make my rock songs sound like crumby house music you made everything I listen to soud terrible. Oh you know what would help this Rolling Stones song? If it sounded like it were being played on the gigantic subwoofer of a ghetto fabulous honda civic with blown out speakers, and I couldnt hear any of the lyrics anymore. Good job. Thanks for that. I would have never even considered buying this app if Boom 1 didnt suddenly stop working. I think they ougth to support their software longer... and perhaps just charge people for upgrades when they roll out new features that people actually want to pay for. Call me old fashioned.

This app continues to have more and more problems.

The longer I’ve used this app the more I hate it, first it was the clipping of audio during songs, then the long process of trying to get the app to stop telling me that i just downloaded it, anddddddd now, easily the worst problem of them all. I’d easily take the clipping of audio over this. Now ya see, when i use my computer as my alarm clock………….and this app doesnt work…...….well i cant say what i wanna say. The thing constantly, stops audio mid video, turns grey like its shut off, or i have to force quit the app and then restart it, JUST TIME AND TIME AND TIME AGAINNNNNNN AND EVERYTIME IT DOES THIS, MY ENTIRE VOLUME IS GONEEEEEEEE, SO WHEN I USE MY COMPUTER AS MY ALARM CLOCK THATS NOT WHEN I WISH I WANNA WAKE UP THATS WHEN I HAVE TO……..BUT WHEN THIS APP SHUTS OFF THE VOLUME ON MY ENTIRE MAC JUST BECAUSE IT’S NOT WORKING………. So, my options now are either, delete the app and look for something else, turn the app off before i go to sleep, or just delete it period and just get used to mac’s low volume.

SOLID

The new BOOM 2 is robust. Plus, it only takes a few minutes to figure out the interface. Keep making awesome apps! Sincerely, Peter

Great app

I was a little weary to spend the money on this app, but it is worth every bit of the price. I have had no trouble with it, and love the way it performs.

Fabulous!!

I was orignally going to purchase some speakers for my 7 year old iMac. Then I discovered Boom 2 through an email and got it instead of the speakers. A really good decision. It made my old Mac come alive! And then I got a new 21.5 inch iMac. It sounded pretty good, better than the old iMac without Boom2, but I decided to make it even better with Boom 2. And I’m very happy! Great sound without the clutter of speakers on my desk! I highly recommend!! Thank you Boom 2!!

BEST Sound app ever

I bought this BOOM app to enhane the sound in my Macbook. I have not looked back, Its been an amazing experience with this awesome app. I don’t why apple would not make this a native app, it is that good. kudos to creators of this app.job well done and money well spent.

Introduces way too much noise

I was looking for an EQ that would run outside of ITunes so i could have some degree of clean EQ on my audiophile system. However, this is clearly not an audiophiles choice as it introduces a tremendous amount of noise and distortions. Basically its more of a cheap efx box than a clean EQ. It might make very low end sound systems sound better, but if you have audiophile grade equip you’ll want to avoid this noise.
